Born Here, in Nelson.
Cutting Edge Signs began in Nelson in 1999, founded by Gus Guthardt after more than a decade in the signage industry.
Gus was drawn to signwriting in the 1980s, when the craft relied on brushes, paint, gold leaf and a steady hand. From a small garage in Victory, he set out to build a signage business known for creativity, quality and practical problem-solving.
As computers and wide-format printing began reshaping the industry, Gus invested early in new technology and training. Cutting Edge became the first sign company in the region to introduce digital printing, combining traditional signwriting knowledge with emerging production methods.
That willingness to evolve still defines the business today. From hand-painted signs and custom fabrication to vehicle wraps, digital displays and nationwide signage projects, Cutting Edge continues to bring together tradition, innovation and collaboration.
