Cutting Edge Signs was founded by Gus (Dave Guthardt) in the late 90s, after he had spent over a decade in the industry working for others. Gus's passion for signwriting was ignited in the 80s by the hands-on artistic aspect of the profession, using brushes, paint, gold leaf, and creativity to produce unique and eye-catching designs.

Starting from a tiny garage in the Victory area, Gus had a dream of making Cutting Edge Signs the largest signage solution provider in the region. However, the industry soon underwent a paradigm shift with the introduction of computers and wide-format digital printers. To stay cutting-edge, Gus made significant investment in upskilling and technology, becoming the first sign business to introduce digital printing to the region.
